In this blog, we will know about Muawiya’s hypocrisy in the light of Quran and Hadith.
Muawiya bin Sufiyan was a very clever and scheming person, his actions reflected his hypocrisy
Let us know about the hypocrisy of Muawiya bin Sufiyan in the light of Quran and Authentic Hadith.
First of all I present verse number 57 of Surah Ahzab of the Holy Quran, in which Allah says that, “Whoever abuses Allah and His Messenger – Peace be upon him, Allah’s curse is on them in this world and the hereafter”.
“Surely those who offend Allah and His Messenger are condemned by Allah in this world and the Hereafter. And He has prepared for them a humiliating punishment”
Holy Quran: Chapter Ahzab Verse No. 57
I now quote a Hadith from Musnad Ahmad and Mishkat in which our Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever abuses Ali is as if he has abused me.
“Abu Abdullah Jadali says that once I came to Hazrat Umm Salamah (May Allah be pleased with him) and she asked me, “Is the Prophet (ﷺ) being reviled in your presence?” I said, “May Allah forbid!” How can this be? She said, “I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say, ‘Whoever reviles Ali (May Allah be pleased with him) is reviling me.”

Now I present it from both Muslim Sharif and Tirmizi Sharif, in which Muawiya bin sufiyan is giving the order to curse Hazrat Ali – May Allah be pleased with him.
“Amir b. Sa’d b. Abi Waqqas reported on the authority of his father that Muawiya b. Abi Sufyan appointed Sa’d as the Governor and said: What prevents you from rebuking Abu Turab (Hadrat ‘Ali), whereupon be said: It is because of three things which I remember Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) having said about him that I would not rebuke him and even if I find one of those three things for me, it would be more dear to me than the red camels. I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) say about ‘Ali as he left him behind in one of his campaigns (that was Tabuk). ‘Ali said to him: Allah’s Messenger, you leave me behind along with women and children. Thereupon Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said to him: Aren’t you satisfied with being unto me what Aaron was unto Moses but with this exception that there is no prophethood after me. And I (also) heard him say on the Day of Khaibar: I would certainly give this standard to a person who loves Allah and his Messenger, and Allah and his Messenger love him too. He (the narrator) said: We had been anxiously waiting for it, when he (the Holy Prophet) said: Call ‘Ali. He was called and his eyes were inflamed. He applied saliva to his eyes and handed over the standard to him, and Allah gave him victory. (The third occasion is this) when the (following Quran: 3-61) verse was revealed: “Let us summon our children and your children.” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) called ‘Ali, Fatima, Hasan and Husain and said: O Allah, they are my family”.

And finally I present both Bukhari Sharif and Muslim Sharif, in which Allah’s Messenger – Peace be upon him called Muawiya bin Sufiyan’s group as people of hell.
“Narrated `Ikrima: that Ibn `Abbas told him and `Ali bin `Abdullah to go to Abu Sa`id and listen to some of his narrations; So they both went (and saw) Abu Sa`id and his brother irrigating a garden belonging to them. When he saw them, he came up to them and sat down with his legs drawn up and wrapped in his garment and said, “(During the construction of the mosque of the Prophet) we carried the adobe of the mosque, one brick at a time while `Ammar used to carry two at a time. The Prophet (ﷺ) passed by `Ammar and removed the dust off his head and said, “May Allah be merciful to `Ammar. He will be killed by a rebellious aggressive group. `Ammar will invite them to (obey) Allah and they will invite him to the (Hell) fire.”
Note – Hazrat Ammar – May Allah be pleased with him was martyred by Muawiya’s gang.

Conclusion:
From the above mentioned Quran and Sahih Hadith, it is clearly understood that Muawiya bin Sufiyan used to get the members to abuse, the fourth Caliph, Hazrat Ali – May Allah be pleased with him, whereas Allah’s Messenger – peace be upon him said, “Whoever abuses Ali, it is as if he has abused Allah’s Messenger – peace be upon him” And Allah says in the Holy Quran that whoever abuses Allah and His Messenger – peace be upon him, will be cursed by Allah in this world and the hereafter”. On the above-said references of Holy Quran and Authentic Hadiths, it is clear that Muawiya bin Sufiyan was a hypocrite and the hypocrisy of Muawiya bin Sufiyan has been proved in the light of Holy Quran and Authentic Hadiths.
